At our studio, the only metals we use are 18K Gold and Platinum 900. Gold purity is measured in Karats (K): 24K is pure gold, 18K is 18/24 gold and the remainder is silver or other kinds of metals.
By adding copper or palladium, you can adjust the hue, which results in colours such as pink or white gold. By changing the ratio of the base metal, it’s possible to give a subtle change to the tint, such as more yellow or more orange. We primarily work with 18K at our studio, as it is easy to work with, is valuable due to its high purity, and can achieve a variety of hues and tints.
アトリエで使用する金属は18金ゴールドとプラチナ900のみ。
ゴールドは24分率で表されるため、18金というのは24分の18が純金、残りがシルバーなど他の金属という意味。残りの部分に銅を入れたりパラジウムを入れたりすることで、ピンクゴールドになったりホワイトゴールドになったり、色味を変えられます。さらに金以外の地金の比率を変えることによって、同じイエローでも黄色味が強くなったり、少しオレンジがかったような温かみのある色になったりと微妙な変化を出すことも可能。K18が製作時の扱いやすさと、ジュエリーとしての価値、色味のバランスにおいてベストだと考えており、弊社アトリエでは基本的にK18を使用しています。
